Sunday Stills: Flames/Smoke

Candlelight

Here is where I started to play around with long exposure times and moving my hand in and out of the shot. I could sit and experiment forever, but alas, Tyler had yet to go to bed so I had to cut it short.

This one was taken moving the flame back and forth through the frame

Sunday Stills: Rule of Thirds

"...put your subject into the upper or lower part of the shot or in the left or right half of the pic. Composition is the name of the game here and you can use any subject you find."

Sunday Stills: Frame It

".....take a photo that is “framed” by something. For example you might use some tree branches to frame the moon or a window to frame a child."

This was the first thing I thought of doing when I saw the 'frame it' theme.

Part of the Castillo we toured in Florida (taken last month)

Hollyhocks planted from seeds from the farm my Mom grew up on, taken this morning. (This one is more loosely framed/edged by the stalk of the plant)

Sunday Stills: History (Something 60+Years Old)

This hat belonged to my Great Grandmother (I think). I love old hats. When I was in high school I had old hats hanging all around my bedroom. Now I have them hanging in Katie's room.

Sunday Stills: Black and White

Green Cove Springs Park (I liked seeing the Spanish moss everywhere)

These palm fronds started out as finger sized coils, and over the course of the week became full-fledged palm fronds. As Grandma Heppner would say, 'Very interested!'

Sunday Stills: Landscape

Ouray, Colorado Courthouse

Independence Monument (Colorado National Monument)

The Bookcliffs (from Loma)

Sunset in Loma

This weeks Sunday Stills challenge is landscapes. These photos are obviously re-runs but packing has taken precedence over running around with my camera. These were some of my favorite shots from our last trip out to Colorado.

Sunday Stills: A Day Late

This week's challenge was spring flowers or wildflowers. We picked these wild roses at our green belt. There are so many of them that it fills the air with the most wonderful scent. Even the kids noticed how nice it smelled on our walk this morning.

Sunday Stills

A friend of mine told me about a photography blog that I could participate in, so this is the first time I've joined in. The challenge was to take Barn photos. I thought I'd have to wait til next week to start, due to the lack of barns around here. Yesterday when we went to the park, I saw this bridge and figured that I could use it as a 'substitute' subject for a barn.
